Staff Bio - Walter W. Want
Walter
W. Want, of Norwest Marketing, Inc., has worked as a manufactures'
sales representative in the safety industry for over 25 years.
As a training and application specialist for fall protection
and rescue and retrieval, Mr. Want has developed and presented
fall protection, confined space retrieval, and personal protective
equipment programs throughout the United States. He is a professional
member of ASSE and active in MANA, SEMAA and the International
Society of Fall Protection. Mr. Want is a graduate of New
Mexico State University and a former Air Force pilot specializing
in search-air rescue.
Mr. Want’s experience includes speaking at conferences
and seminars for Fall Protection. He is a Certified OSHA Trainer
at National and State levels, and has trained State and Federal
OSHA employees in Fall Protection and Personal Fall Arrest
Systems. Mr. Want helped to write and develop Fall Protection
Manuals for the states of Oregon and Idaho.
Mr. Want has worked at elevation in television towers, microwave
transmission towers, cell communication towers and wind generator
systems. He was involved in constructability studies of significant
structures including the King Dome, Tacoma Dome, Blazer Arena,
Seattle Space needle, and many major interstate and railroad
bridges.
Along with his work in Fall Protection, Mr. Want also works
as a fire training instructor. This course includes regulations,
hazard assessment, climbing, restraint, working at elevation,
fall and rescue, both down only and up and down techniques.
